Dining In and Dining Out
Be it a rich fisherman’s stew, perfectly grilled vegetables, pour over coffee, or a pot of hot chocolate, the kitchen at Stone’s Throw is stocked with all the equipment that you need to create amazing meals. Both organic and conventional groceries can be found just a scenic 14-minute drive down the road on Gualala’s main street. That being said, we know that sometimes it feels good to order in or to dine out. The newly-renovated Sea Ranch Lodge, just a five minute drive or a 35 minute walk away, offers three dining spaces: The Dining Room, The Bar and Lounge, and The Café. Or head into Gualala and relax with fish tacos at the bar at The Black Door. Stop for a cocktail and the views at St. Orres in Gualala and take entrees to go. Two Fish Baking Company, just south of the Sea Ranch in Stewart’s Point, offers excellent breakfast goodies, coffee, and picnic fare, as well as handmade pizzas to go on Friday nights. Place your pizza order en route to the house and pick it up on your way to check in. Once you hit Two Fish Baking Co. on scenic Highway 1, you are less than 5 miles from Stone’s Throw!
Hiking From Stone’s Throw
The Sea Ranch has miles upon miles of private trails for your rejuvenation and enjoyment. Some of our favorites are the ones you can access just outside our door! Bobcat Trail crosses Crow's Nest Drive just down the road from Stone’s Throw. Taking Bobcat Trail east will take you on “the short loop.” You will hike up through the redwoods bearing left on the trails, and then wend your way back down to the house on the private roads. Keep an eye out for banana slugs! Taking Bobcat Trail west where it hits Crow’s Nest will take you on “the long loop” or to destinations west of Highway 1. The long loop includes a fairly steep downhill stair climb. Then you will bend northward and up to take in ocean views on Annapolis Trail, and will enjoy a gradual climb back around to the house on a combination of trails and private roads. Bearing left will take you to where Bobcat Trail meets Moonraker Drive. Cross Highway 1 to reach the trailhead to Black Point Beach or the Sea Ranch Lodge, or stroll down the drive to visit the Moonraker Recreation Center.
